In any move, our first
consideration is always given to Health and Safety; not only of our staff
but also in respect of our customers, their premises and, of course, the
items and materials being moved.
The guidelines laid down by the Health and Safety
Executive are integral to everything Benchmark does. We use a wide variety
of specialist equipment to lift, transport and position individual items.
Our operatives are fully trained and certified in the use of fork lift
trucks, lifting tables, pallet trucks, scoots, stair-walkers, skates, sack
barrows and safe manual handling.
Our operatives are trainined and tested under the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and carry the relevant I.D. cards.
The many rules and regulations that govern the
transportation of hazardous and potentially dangerous materials require
careful attention. To ease any concerns or fears our customers may have, we
liaise with the appointed personnel within your organisation to ensure all
legal requirements are satisfied. These would include the preparation of
Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Cargo Manifests and other specialist
documents.

Within our experienced and fully trained team we have a fully qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) as well as a certified chemist. The role of the DGSA is central in ensuring that all equipment and packing materials utilised on a move are appropriate and meet legal requirements. Our chemist advises in particular instances of transportation of chemical substances that are governed by ADR (The Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road:- Accord Europeen elative au Transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route) guidelines. Any organisation operating under these regulations is easily identifiable by the large orange warning plates mounted on the front and rear of the vehicle. Our drivers also hold ADR licences in addition to their HGV certification.
