Need to dispose of your old laboratory equipment?
We understand the importance of responsible waste management and ensure your redundant equipment is handled with the utmost care for the environment. Our team follows strict environmental regulations outlined in the WEEE compliance standards.
Lab equipment that has become obsolete in the UK will almost certainly have an extended lifespan if sold overseas, providing an opportunity for your organisation to unlock additional funds or provide an avenue for charitable donation.
What laboratory equipment can be recycled or resold?
When a laboratory is being updated, relocated or decommissioned, there is a wide range of equipment that, if being replaced, can be resold or recycled.
These include:
Analytical Instruments
These devices have a wide range of applications, and are often easy to rehome either in the UK in other laboratories or overseas. Equipment such as mass spectrometers, microscopes and chromatographs, if in reasonable working order, can be sold through auction or donated to research charities if desired.
Lab Furniture
Laboratory furniture, including benches and fume hoods, is often sought after in the education sector as well as for new labs looking to commission on a budget. Many of their components are also easily recyclable if a suitable buyer cannot be found.
Laboratory Glassware
Not all lab glass is recyclable; however, many items can be donated or recycled, so it is worth speaking to our team during your equipment replacement to find out which items can be disposed of sustainably.
If you are currently in the process of exchanging laboratory equipment, or you require your equipment to be disposed of ethically and responsibly, please speak to a member of our team here, and we will be happy to help. We are a licensed waste carrier throughout the UK and will provide a waste transfer document on collection.

Recycling FAQs
What can you do with my redundant laboratory equipment?
We can put it into an auction to give others the opportunity to purchase and make use of the surplus equipment or for spare parts, and in turn, can generate additional funds for you. The item can be recycled/repurposed via our waste recycling partner.
Can you recycle laboratory refrigerators and freezers?
Through our dedicated partner, all parts of your redundant equipment can be handled and managed responsibly, including the reuse and repurposing of refrigerator gases.
Will you provide me with a duty of care waste transfer document?
We are a licensed waste carrier throughout the UK and will provide a waste transfer document on collection.
How do companies recycle laboratory equipment?
Our team will look at different channels to dispose of your laboratory equipment before destroying it. If the redundant equipment or items are fully functioning or can be easily renovated, then we will look at resale through auction. We can also discuss donating equipment if that is something that is important to your organisation. Typically, if we can’t resell equipment, then we will find ways to recycle as many of the component parts as possible.
