This week, Benchmark Services have introduced their new, environmentally-friendly, ultra-low emission, Scania vehicle to the team!

Ultra-Low Emissions

Benchmark Services’ New Ultra-Low Emissions Truck!

This 18t truck is believed to be the ‘next generation of ultra-low emissions’ and has been obtained by Benchmark to coincide with the launch of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London on Monday 8th April 2019. Furthermore, this is the new law of charging drivers of older, more polluting vehicles to enter the congestion zone area at any given time. These vehicles include motorbikes, cars, buses, coaches and lorries that do not make the Euro standards – they will be charged £12.50 to enter the zone each day (excluding congestion charge), and anyone who fails to pay will face a fine.

The ULEZ zone in 2019 currently covers the City of Westminster and it’s surroundings. Whereas by 2021, it is set to be expanded to cover the entire area between the North and South Circular roads.

What is it’s purpose?

The Transport for London (TfL) aims to reduce the number of polluting cars in the capital city. This emission zone has been estimated to reduce toxic emissions caused by road transport by 45% in the next two years – which is incredible!

This is a big step in attempting to clean up London’s air, and it’s significant that we make this kind of progress. The majority of people will enjoy their morning in London not noticing anything has changed, when in fact the TfL just gave the atmosphere an impacting detox of toxic emissions.

That’s why…

We are incredibly delighted to present our brand new vehicle, especially as we know we are helping make a difference in some way!
